Devin's Story

Devin was recently diagnosed with Stage Four Esophageal Cancer. This was a huge surprise to his friends and family and everyone that knows and loves him.

As a longtime employee of Prosper Inc, Devin's presence is felt in every major part of our business. He helped pioneer the Customer Service Department which has blessed the lives of tens of thousands of people across the world. His good nature and optimism helped shape our culture of "Helping People Prosper".

Devin's personal motto is to "leave people better than you find them". Certainly, we've all felt his love and attention as he's consistantly helped us to become better people. He has dedicated his life to his family, friends and co-workers ensuring that those around him are happy.

Now it is our time to dedicate our love and support to Devin and his family. We've set up an account where all donations will go directly to his wife, Julie, and will be used to support his cancer treatments and hospital bills. These donations will also help to empower his family financially while Devin is working on his goal of recovery.

There are two ways to donate to help Devin:

(1) Email Prosper's representative at pr@prospercorp.com to let us know your pledge amount. This number will be deducted from your next paycheck. (This option is for Prosper Employees).

(2) Pledge financial support online by visiting http://pledgie.com/campaigns/14720. You will be using PayPal for this transaction.

Together we can make a difference in Devin's life.

  6. Devin:
You have a big fight on your hands don't you. As you know my family has also gone through a battle of cancer. It really is a battle. You have to fight it with everything you have; your faith, your family, your mind, your spirit...everything! You fight for the ones you love.

You recognize that your love and faith is not dependent on outcomes.

Everyone posting in this blog loves ya. My family will pray for you to win this war. Don't let setbacks derail your focus or spirit. I am sure you will have them, but remember it is the war you must win!

Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

May our loving Heavenly Father bless you and your family at this time.

  7. Dev,

Keep up the fight! I know you can beat this. You taught me a lot of things, a major one being that every situation can be looked at positively and every problem can be solved. Everyone has confidence in you.

Thank You for your influence. My family's prayers are with you through this.

  8. My friendship with Devin began in 1970, more than 40 years ago. We went to first and second grade together at Garfield Elementary School in Pasadena, CA before it was developed into the Orangewood Plaza shopping center. I still remember our many adventures in the Boy Scouts (South Pasadena Troop 516) at Jamborees, the Father – Son weekends with his dad Don, the Colorado River Canoe Trip, Order of the Arrow, etc... so many good times we shared during our youth.

Devin was always interested in martial arts, so it didn’t come as a surprise to me when he earned a black belt in martial arts – an achievement I admired for the discipline and dedication it requires. And yet what I have admired most about Devin is his kindness, patience, integrity and humility – character qualities which remind me that true strength is an internal discipline. In a world of dubious televangelism, Devin stands out as an example of genuine Christian spirit – a gentle reminder that love is patient, and love is kind.

When I recently learned of Devin’s fight with cancer, I was shocked and honestly didn’t understand why this was happening to my friend and brother – especially at such a young age. My mother was diagnosed with cancer at age 46 as well, so it struck a raw nerve in me. And so I pray now that God will give Devin the strength to fight on and provide support to his wife Julie and their children during this difficult time.

    Your brother,

    Michael Hollcraft
